I don't know a lot, matter of fact I don't know much at all,
especially about spelling and end times eschatology, and if it weren't for
spell check you would know that by my first attempt at spelling eschatology, lol.
So let me begin with some things I don't know, now remember
this list is long and I’m going to try and keep focused to those things I don't
know that are related to the topic.
I don't know when Jesus is coming back. I don't know what the New Jerusalem is going
to look like. I don't know where I stand
on the different theories of the end times as I in my 5 years as a Christian
have leaned on the words of Luther, "I will live as Christ is coming
today, and plant a tree for tomorrow."
But after my experience here in Jordan, Palestine, and Israel
I am compelled to think and form a position on this issue of Israel, which by
the way is a cuss word in Jordan and I’m told it is throughout the middle east,
(side note, this makes for a great witness for America the Christian nation or
those as Americans coming to the 10/40 window to share Christ, who supports
Israel, going against the rulings of the UN and the world at large.)
Ok, so what I don't know is how the end times are going to
play out and Israel's
involvement in those times, and who actually is Israel anyway? What defines an Israelite is it faith or
DNA/Family? I have some tendency to lean
a certain way with this question, but like I said, I have not studied enough,
so I will leave this question in the I don't know section of this note.
On to what I know, Jesus calls us to love the widows and the
orphans. Jesus was not into
religion. We as followers of Christ will
be known by our love for one another.
Jesus was not a racist.
I know what concentration camps in Poland look
like. I know what the Berlin
wall did to East Germany and
Poland,
and I know Ronald Regan's famous words about that wall, "Mr. President Tear
down this wall!" I know that as
human beings discrimination is wrong whether it is based on color, creed,
nationality etc. I know if I was to be
caged within a wall were the hospital was on the other side and my mom was
having heart trouble and I couldn't take her to the hospital but was told to go
home and deal with (watch her die,) I would not stand by and allow that to continue. This is what happens in the West
Bank, when a Palestinian tries to leave their home. I have heard
first hand testimony from a mature Christian who experienced this very thing.
I know Palestinians are given different license plates,
white ones, and Israeli's are given yellow ones, and depending on your license
plate; determines whether you can drive on certain roads and go through certain
checkpoints. This reminds an American of
separate drinking fountain days...do you remember reading about segregation as
late as the 50's?
I know that if you want to be a citizen of Israel, their
constitution requires you to be Jewish? Can you imagine, if to be a U.S citizen
you had to be Jewish and if you weren't you were not allowed access to the
rights of the rest of the nation???
I know the Jewish people have faced a lot because of the
Holocaust, I’ve walked through the camps, and I think every human alive should
see the evil that took place there. But
the treatment of the Palestinians is something that I believe every human being
should see and understand as well.
Point blank the current state of Israel is so out of whack with Democracy,
it breaks my heart and makes my blood boil every time I think about it and not
because of the politics, but because of the GOSPEL.
I know that some see Israel as a major player in the end
times according to their understanding of scripture and I’m not saying Israel
won’t be around, but for those who lobby (bribe, buy, manipulate) the US
government to support Israel because of their eschatological views, I am
appalled.
To try and force the end times by suppressing an entire
nation, causing more of refugees than any other time in modern history and
creating the current state of the middle east is mind blowing that we support
this crap.
I know that one of the main reasons Middle Eastern nations
hate America, is because of
the lack of respect for human life in the people of Palestine.
Israel today is not a
democracy, were people are given the right to life, LIBERTY, and the pursuit of happiness. They say, if you are Jewish you are a
citizen, if you are a Palestinian, you are second class. Can you imagine this in America? Oh (side note, this two state solution, i.e.
West Bank, these are little island communities surrounded by the walls and
guard towers I remember so clearly from my visit to the camps in Poland.
I don’t know what the end times will look like, but to try
and lobby them in through the bribing of the politicians in power, seems the
furthest thing from the will of God.
Christ calls you and me to love the widows and the orphans and trust
Him.
The Palestinians are the widowed and the orphaned and loving
them is God’s will. And I believe with
all my heart that God is faithful and will come when He sees fit and not
according to the plan of the Christian coalition.
I know at this time, we are all human beings, created by
God! Each of us, equal in His eyes and
as a Christian I am to live and share this message of value, and not destroy
it! And to support the state of Israel, I am
doing just that, destroy the very message Christ preached!
